“Doozer McDooze wears his heart on his sleeve, places his tongue in his cheek and opens his emotions to the listener. Doozer’s Essex origins mean comparisons with Billy Bragg are inevitable. Thrumming his guitar with a rhythmic energy that demonstrates little concern for the guitar’s safety and total commitment to the music; Doozer McDooze reveals the fragility at the heart of his world view. There is an impressible energy on Not Going Back To That: direct, open and in your face.”
“The Bandstand also played host to a set from underground festival hero Doozer McDooze. Part of why Doozer goes down so well, is because he sings about what his audience are going through in their everyday lives outside of the festival field, however while he was playing his audience were currently going through a lot of rain and mud. Upon seeing this Doozer decided to pack as many of the audience as he could fit onto the stage, in order to shelter them from the unfortunate weather. While the audience gathered round, singing along to many of Doozer’s songs, a rainbow appeared behind the stage. It is moments like this which sum up the communal spirit that is shared by the Beautiful Days audience – and it is this spirit that I think keeps people coming back year on year.”
“Above all Doozer is an acoustic, troubadour, a story teller who frequently invites you to look anew at the absurdity of our political system, at the dark side of the music industry and of life in the UK.”
“Vibrant, energetic and brash, he sang songs from his current album Not Going Back To That. Some of his songs are anthemic, others jolly and ironic. The song we can all sing along to is I Don’t Wanna Go Home. There was dancing and clapping and the encores never stopped.”
Doozer McDooze is a music festival favourite with his songs being sung back to him at indoor venues and festival stages, to house parties and campfire gatherings. His music can be best described as “Foot Stomping Acoustic Folk Punk”.
Doozer McDooze is a modern bard whose rousing vocals and bouyant acoustics weave stories of life, love and the struggles of the every man. At turns irreverent and evocative, Doozer’s folk punk vibe is equally fitting for a roaring time at the pub or a huge festival crowds.
